Acquiring Employment-based Residence Status

Since January 1, 2022, employers who wish to hire a foreign employee shall submit an application for acquiring employment-based residence status exclusively online.

To apply online, it is necessary to:

  • apply online through the electronic work permit system (workpermit.am) as an employer (authorized representatives of the employer’s executive body may act on the platform)
  • in the “New Application” section, under the “Work Permit” window, fill in the information related to the vacant job position and confirm the application

Within 15 working days after acquiring the consent from the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs to employ the foreign national, it is necessary to complete the foreign national’s personal data. There are specific cases where the work permit is issued based on additional documents. These cases are listed in the “Professions included in the exemption list” section of the application form.

The platform also allows submission of work permit applications for voluntary workers. In such cases, the application shall be submitted under the “Volunteer” section.

Note

Citizens of EAEU member states who carry out employment activities in Armenia, as well as their family members, are exempt from the requirement to submit any permitting document. Nevertheless, in order to confirm the legality of their residence, citizens of EAEU member states are also required to apply online.
