The appointment request is considered confirmed only if you have received a corresponding notification at your email address.
Acquiring RA Citizenship if the Applicant Has Been Recognized as a Refugee in the Republic of Armenia or is a Stateless Person Residing in the Republic of Armenia
To acquire RA citizenship, the applicant shall personally visit the Department for Citizenship Granting of the Migration and Citizenship Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, located at 17/10, 4th District, Davtashen, Yerevan. An appointment shall be booked in advance via the migration-e.gov.am website or the EarlyOne mobile application.
Book an Appointment
The service is available in person and requires a prior appointment.
When booking, it is necessary to provide the details of the individual who will personally come to the appointment. Each visitor, regardless of age, shall have a separate appointment. Notably, persons over the age of 75 are served on a walk-in basis (“live queue” format).
To Book an appointment online, you shall:
- Visit the migration.e-gov.am platform, select the section “Submission of Application for Acquisition or Termination of Citizenship,” and book an appointment.
- After authentication, fill in the required information (the first and last name shall be entered exactly as written in the passport) and click the “Next Page” button.
- On the next page, enter your email address and phone number, then enter the code sent to your email.
- In the “Book an Appointment” section of the following page, select the address: 17/10, 4th District, Davtashen (Department for Citizenship Granting).
- Enter the details of the person for whom the application is being submitted.
- In the “Select Date and Time” window, choose the most convenient option from the available dates and times.
If using the EarlyOne mobile application, open the “Government” section, select “Migration and Citizenship Service,” then from the branches choose “Department for Citizenship. After that, select the “Application for citizenship/termination pf citizenship” subsection and fill in the required information in the appropriate order.
Required documents
- application form;
- six photos (colored) measuring 35 mm x 45 mm;
- birth certificate and the carbon copy thereof;
- convention travel document for refugees (or, in the case of a stateless person, a stateless person’s residence certificate and its copy)
- marriage (or divorce) certificate and the carbon copy thereof and a copy of the passport of the spouse (if the applicant has changed his or her surname due to marriage);
- a document regarding the change of personal data (if the person has made such a change);
- document attesting the payment of relevant state duty.
Documents drawn up in a foreign language shall be submitted with a notarized translation into Armenian language.
Persons who are not of Armenian origin must take the test on the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia at the time of submitting their citizenship application (pursuant to RA Government Decree No. 1040-N of 30 August 2007).”
Service Fee and Payment Procedure
When applying for RA citizenship, a fee of AMD 1,000 shall be paid.
Payment can be made on site via payment terminal, online, or at any bank in Armenia by transferring the amount to account number 900005160529.
Amendments were made to the Law of the Republic of Armenia “On State Duty” on 22 January 2025, according to which, starting from 1 September 2025, individuals who have refugee status in the Republic of Armenia and those recognized as stateless persons (SPs) by the Republic of Armenia shall be exempt from paying the state duty for acquiring RA citizenship.
Processing Time and Procedure
The application is reviewed within 90 working days after submission. Once the application is submitted, the applicant receives a personal tracking code via SMS (linked to the application number) or by email, which can be used to monitor the status of the application.
If the application for acquiring RA citizenship is approved or rejected, the applicant is notified via SMS or an email sent to his or her electronic address. If the application is approved and the person is present in the Republic of Armenia, he or she may apply to the Migration and Citizenship Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to receive an RA citizen passport. An appointment shall be booked in advance through the migration-e.gov.am platform or the EarlyOne mobile application by selecting the service “Issuance of a passport for the first time to a person who has acquired RA citizenship.”
