The Republic of Armenia grants asylum to foreign citizens (including stateless persons) who were forced to leave their country of citizenship or permanent residence due to political persecution and have requested asylum in Armenia.
A request for asylum in the Republic of Armenia may be submitted:
Orally,
In writing,
In sign language, or
Through a face-to-face statement by other means of communication.
A request for asylum may be submitted to the Border Guard Troops of the National Security Service of Armenia at the border crossing points of the Republic of Armenia, to the Police departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), or to the Migration and Citizenship Service. In case of imprisonment, asylum seekers may apply to the prison administration within the established time limits.
