To change the passport of the citizen of the Republic of Armenia, the applicant shall personally visit preferred subdivision of the Migration and Citizenship Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, either by booking an appointment in advance or by joining a live queue.

When booking an appointment, it is necessary to enter the details of the person who will personally come to the appointment. An individual appointment shall be made for each visitor, regardless of age.

For citizens under the age of 16, the application for passport exchange shall be submitted by the child’s parent or legal representative (adoptive parent, guardian, custodian, or authorized person). If the parent or legal representative is unable to submit the application in person, the authenticity of their signature on the submitted application shall be notarized. The application shall clearly state that it is for the purpose of issuing a passport to the child and shall include the child’s personal details (first name, last name, day, month, and year of birth).

To Book an Appointment Online:

• go to the migration.e-gov.am platform. For applicants aged 16 and above, select the section “Issuing passport of a citizen of the RA over 16 years old.” For those under 16, select “Issuing passport of a citizen of the RA under 16 years old,” and book an appointment
• after authentication, fill in the required information (first and last names shall be entered in Armenian script exactly as written in the passport), then click the “Next Page” button
• on the next page, enter your email address and phone number, then the code sent to your email
• in the “Book an appointment” section, select any territorial subdivision of the Migration and Citizenship Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (you shall enter the details of the person for whom the application is being submitted)
• in the “Select Date and Time” window, choose the most convenient option from the available dates and times

Requirements 

To change an RA citizen's passport, the person shall:

• Be registered in the State Population Register

A passport may be exchanged if:

• its validity period has expired;
• passport has been lost;
• it contains incorrect data and the citizen wishes to correct it (in this case, documents confirming the change shall also be submitted);
• all pages designated for entry visas have been filled;
• citizen has expressed a desire to replace the passport.

Required documents 

To exchange a passport, it is necessary to submit:

• the passport to be exchanged (except in cases where the passport has been lost)
• two photos (colored) measuring 35 mm x 45 mm;
• if the required documents are in a foreign language – notarized Armenian translations in accordance with the law;
• carbon copies of the documents, if available.

If the passport contains incorrect or changed information, it is also necessary to submit:

• document issued by a competent authority confirming the change or correction

In the case of citizens subject to compulsory military service (male citizens aged 16–55), it is also necessary to submit:

• military ID (or a certificate issued by the territorial military commissariat if unavailable)

Service Fee and Payment Procedure

To exchange a passport, a fee of 1,000 AMD shall be paid.

In case of loss, the same fee of 1,000 AMD applies for acquiring a new passport.

Payment can be made at the Migration and Citizenship Service subdivision via payment terminal or POS terminal, or in advance by transferring the amount to bank account number 900005162152 and presenting the payment receipt.

If the payment is made in advance, the receipt shall be submitted in printed form, as it will be attached to the applicant’s documentation.

Processing Time and Procedure

The passport is issued on the 5th working day after application submission, and in case of loss, on the 10th working day following the date of application.

To receive the new passport, the applicant shall visit the same MCS subdivision of the Ministry of Internal Affairs where the application was submitted.

For expedited passport issuance, the following fees apply:

• 1,000 + 40,000 AMD – to receive the passport on the 5th working day
• 1,000 + 50,000 AMD – to receive the passport on the 3rd working day
• 1,000 + 60,000 AMD – to receive the passport within 1 working day
