In case a foreign national is denied residence status in Armenia, a decision on the rejection is issued and sent by post within three days to the applicant or their authorized representative. For applications submitted via the electronic platform workpermit.am, the decision is sent online through the same platform.

The decision rejecting residence status shall include the following information:

• the foreign national may reapply for residence status one year after the rejection;
• the foreign national has the right to appeal the decision, and the procedure for the appeal;
• upon receiving the decision, the foreign national is obliged to either appeal it or voluntarily leave the territory of the Republic of Armenia within the time frame and in the manner prescribed by law.

If the decision to reject residence status is appealed, the relevant administrative or judicial proceedings shall be initiated. During this period, the foreign national is allowed to remain in Armenia and is not subject to administrative liability under Part 1 of Article 201 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Armenia.

In case the decision to reject the residence status is not appealed by the foreign national and the foreign national does not leave the territory of the Republic of Armenia within the time limit for appeal, the foreign national shall be subject to administrative liability for committing the offense provided for in Article 201(1) of the Code of the Republic of Armenia on Administrative Offenses.

If the decision to reject the residence status is not appealed by the foreign national and the foreign national does not leave the territory of the Republic of Armenia within the appeal period, the Migration and Citizenship Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia shall initiate and submit to the court a case on the judicial expulsion of the foreign national from the territory of the Republic of Armenia.
